Year-long virtual, synchronous professional development opportunities for supervisors of school psychologists at all levels
Supervision of school psychologists occurs in several capacities: within university training programs, in field-based placements for practica and internships, and in employment. Although supervision is a critical component of both pre-service and in-service professional development for school psychologists (Simon & Swerdlik, 2023), there is not a widely-available manner of training individuals or systems to provide that supervision outside of doctoral-level coursework (Newman et al., 2024). Additionally, personnel who are not school psychologists by training may be in a position to supervise school psychologists within an employment setting. Recognizing these issues, the Inter-University Council of School Psychology Programs, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, Ohio School Psychologists Association, and Ohio Supervisors of School Psychologists collaborated to create a School Psychology Supervision Institute to address the gap between current practices and best practices in the supervision of both graduate students and practicing school psychologists.
