Multi-Tiered System of Supports, or MTSS, is defined as “a framework for delivering practices and systems for enhancing academic and behavior outcomes for students” (Webb & Michalopoulou, 2021, pg.1443). In this tiered, data driven framework, educators work to ensure that students respond to core instruction. Students who show the need for additional support or remediation are identified by data and are provided additional support. It supports students in the areas of academics, behavior, or social-emotional skills. The emphasis is on prevention.
