  • TOSP Summer 2022

John Louis Guidubaldi was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Girard, Ohio, and died at age 82 Nov. 12, 2021, in Port Orange, Fla., of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder. He received his B.S. Ed., from Youngstown State University (1962), M.A. from Kent State University in School Psychology (1964), and D.Ed. from Harvard University in Human Development (1969). He taught mathematics in Warren, Ohio, before his employment with Kent State University’s Counseling and Personnel Department (1969-1972), then chair of the Department of Early Childhood Education (1972-1984) and finally professor of school psychology until he retired in 1994. He taught at John Carroll University from 1994-2005. He had a strong interest in child and family development, especially the role of fathers in the development of young children and the impact of divorce on children. His research brought his appointment to the Ohio Task Force on Family Law and Children, the Ohio Advisory Council for Child Support Guidelines, and the U.S. Congressional Commission on Child and Family Welfare.
