The following remarks were prepared by Dr. Susan Davies, Professor and Program Coordinator at the University of Dayton, and Connie Nichols, School Psychologist Supervisor for the Montgomery County Educational Service Center. They were presented at the 2022 OSPA Fall Conference.
On Aug. 2, 2021, after years of battling breast cancer, the UD school psychology program family lost our dear friend and 2017 graduate, Laura Kuebel. Laura was a true gift to our program and profession.
Laura was diagnosed with cancer during her second year in the program. Nevertheless, she persisted with her studies and field placements. Laura interned in Bellbrook-Sugarcreek School District and then worked for Montgomery County Educational Service Center and was a preschool psychologist in Huber Heights City Schools. Laura touched the lives of students in every cohort that followed hers by serving as a mentor, a job shadowing host, a practicum and graduate assistant supervisor, and as a guest speaker in our classes.
