Franklin Ziccardi

2022

Being a member of OSPA has been a pivotal part of my professional journey from internship and beyond. The wealth of resources and the strong sense of community have played a monumental role in my development as a school psychologist.

It was an absolute honor to serve as President of OSPA—an experience that will always remain a highlight of my career. During my terms as President-Elect and President, I helped organize a Northeast Ohio chapter of the Future School Psychologists of Ohio, represented our state at the annual NASP convention, and continued my involvement as President of the Kent Akron Association of School Psychologists (KAASP). As OSPA President, I was privileged to represent Ohio in NASP’s Assistance to States Committee, participate in the OSPA Business Manager search process, facilitate an OSPA mental health challenge to encourage practitioners to engage in counseling or mentorship, and support the creation of the Internship Supervisor of the Year Award.

None of this work was done alone. I am deeply grateful for the dedication of the OSPA Executive Board and for the incredible leadership and support provided by CEO Rachel Chilton and Business Manager Megan Luna.

Becoming involved early with both local and state school psychology associations has profoundly shaped my professional and personal growth. I encourage all school psychologists—at any stage of their career—to get involved or stay involved. The benefits of engaging in these professional communities are truly immeasurable.
