Membership and Elections Committee

*This page is undergoing editing. For questions about the Membership and Elections Committee, please email elections@ospaonline.org *

We want to encourage those members who have not yet served in an elected capacity or on one of OSPA’s many committees, to volunteer to take part in a leadership role and make a difference in the future of school psychology and your State organization. There is no better way to give back and learn more about being a better School Psychologist.

We are currently accepting nominations for President-Elect and Secretary in the 2027 election cycle.

The President-Elect commits to three years on OSPA leadership - one year as president-elect in which he or she shadows the current president, one year as president and one year as past-president, during which he or she advises the current president.

While president, this person presides at all meetings of the Executive Board (held quarterly), setting the date and agenda for the meetings. He or she also serves as the major spokesperson for OSPA or delegates this role to other members or officials. The president is a member of the Fiscal Advisory Committee, authorizes official communication necessary with other organizations, agencies or persons, and works with the President-Elect to establish a functional communication network among all regional affiliates of OSPA to ensure that each of these affiliates is meeting their respective responsibilities. The job is well supported by the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Operations.

The Secretary serves a two-year term, and can serve consecutive terms if they are re-elected.

The Secretary is a voting member of the Executive Board and serves on the Fiscal Advisory Committee. They responsible for recording accurately the events and information at official Association meetings, maintaining official records, and writing official correspondence. The Secretary also reviews initiatives and directives from meeting to meeting to insure consistency and to see if charges and activities were completed, and may be involved in other direction setting as requested by the President.

If you are interested in running for a position, please contact the co-chairs at elections@ospaonline.orgor

Membership and Elections Committee Purpose: To encourage the expansion of participation by school psychologists in the Association, and to be responsive to the needs of members.  To increase membership in all areas.  To assist current members with various services provided by the Association. To ensure the continuation of the Association by replacing Officers and Executive Board members whose terms have expired through a nomination and election process. To review requests for access to the listserv to solicit research participants, and to disseminate such requests if they meet criteria.

Interested in joining the committee?

This Committee should have at least one member from each Region. OSPA Members can join the committee by navigating to the Members section of the OSPA website, selecting Committee Workspaces/Communities, and clicking Join Group.
