"Putting Pieces Together For Ohio Students"

Recorded Conference Session, Spring 2026, Thursday P.M. - Science of Writing

This 4-hour recorded conference session will be available for viewing through 10/24/26 and includes the following presentation:

Science of Writing: What School Psychologists Need to Know
Presenter: Marlene Sotelo-Dynega, PsyD
This workshop will provide essential knowledge and practical skills to address written language disorders, with a focus on dysgraphia. Participants will learn to identify these disorders and use the School Neuropsychology/CHC Theories framework to guide intervention decisions, thereby improving educational and  clinical outcomes for students. The workshop will demonstrate use of SNP/CHC framework as a comprehensive model for assessing written language disorders, enabling tailored assessments to meet individual needs. It will cover operational definitions for clarity in diagnosis and intervention strategies, data on the prevalence of these disorders, and discussions on their multifactorial etiology.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Define and understand written language disorders, including dysgraphia and recognize signs and symptoms in students
  • Select and use effective assessment tools
  • Apply the School Neuropsychology/CHC theories framework to guide interventions
  • Link cognitive processes to outcomes
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to support student success
