School Psychology: Our Cup of Tea

  • TOSP Fall 2020

In the early spring semester of 2020, 12 candidates from Ohio’s Youngstown State University School Psychology program participated in a 10-day study-abroad experience in London and Manchester, England. YSU School Psychology Associate Professor, Dr. Richard VanVoorhis and his wife Hayley (who is a native of England) served as trip leaders.
Graduate candidates included Taylor Bell, Cassie Brooke, Gianna DeToro, Seth Gaines, Ayden Howell, Kayla Johnston, Caitlin Keaton, Mikalyn Lombardo, Rachael Malizia, Julia Pilla, Brianna Spencer, and Victoria Vivo. Candidates engaged in a variety of activities involving multi-cultural/social issues, psychology, counseling, and education. Furthermore, candidates collaborated with students and faculty from the University of Manchester’s Educational Psychologist Program and shadowed English educational psychologists in various field and school settings. This article provides an overview of the experience from the trip leader’s and candidates’ perspectives.
